A Climate of Fear

In an article published in the Internet edition of The Miami Herald dated today, under the bylines of Alfonso Chardy and Oscar Corral, prominent Cuban-American Bernardo Benes was quoted as follow:

"This opens the door to a witch hunt," said Bernardo Benes, who helped bring about an era of rapprochement in the late 1970s when the Fidel Castro regime allowed exiles to return for family visits. "I'm sad that evil people take advantage of moments like this to promote their evil ideas and impose on people more control
of the community"

I couldn't agree more with Mr. Benes. The anti-Cuba zealots that have always dominated Miami have a deep hatred of Fidel Castro. They have tried to silence everyone that does not agree with their political agenda.

I may not agree with everything that Fidel Castro does, but Cuba under his leadership is a better place that Cuba under Batista, and there is a big difference: Cubans now govern Cuba, instead of the U.S. ambassador.
