This past weekend, in the incident where the U.S. government forced Cuban officials out of an energy summit being held at a Sheraton hotel in Mexico City, the governments of Mexico and the U.S. came out as big losers.
Mexico for not standing up to the big bully from the north, and the U.S. for continuing to think that its laws have extraterritoriality. It was sad to see Mexico not defend its national sovereignty and independence and allowing the bullies to come into their nation and do their thuggish act.
When it comes to U.S.-Cuba relations Uncle Sam has no friends on the planet earth. Last November, the U.N. General Assembly, by a vote of 182-4 condemned the U.S. government embargo against Cuba. Let Bush and his band of neocons put that in their pipe and smoke it.
The embargo against Cuba is a 45 year old failure.
It is time to lift it and stand up to the Miami anti-Cuba zealots.
