U.S. threatens Nicaragua

November 16, 2006

Bloomberg has reported that "Daniel Ortega, the Sandinista guerrilla leader who ran Nicaragua in the 1980s, regained power by winning the Central American country's presidential election, an early count of the votes showed."

A Bush administration cabinet official was reported as saying that "a victory by Ortega may put $220 million in U.S. aid at risk."

Notice that this election, according to international election observers, was an open an democratic election, but as soon as the results were in, the U.S. government threatened to cut off aid to Nicaragua.

Why? Because the people of Nicaragua did not vote the way the U.S. government wanted. The arrogance of the yankee imperialists has no limits.
