Cuba and Venezuela to grant Bolivar-Marti Scholarships

Havana, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan and Cuban Culture Ministries summoned on Thursday to the Bolivar-Marti scholarships, devoted to stimulate an anti-hegemonic and decolonizing thinking, with a strong liberating willingness.

According to this project grounds, all those interested will be able to participate, as long as they are permanent residents in Venezuela or Cuba.

The scholarships will be granted to essay projects based on the principles of this summon. Those raising, from an original perspective, important aspects of the current historic, social, cultural, political, and economic problems of America.

The rewards will be five $20,000 scholarships for projects of people over 35, and two of $15,000 for those under 35.

A jury composed by prestigious figures of essay and the Latin American thinking will be in charge of choosing the winners.

The projects should be sent to both countries´ culture ministries. The works´ submission deadline is October 31, 2007, and the winners will be announced before the year concludes.
