In baseball action, Cuba today beat Japan 8-1 at the World Port Tournament in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It remains undefeated.
Cuba had 13 hits, while Japan had five. Jose Julio Ruiz had a home run for the defending champions. Yosvani Peraza went two for four, with three runs batted in.
The winning Cuban pitcher was Alberto Bicet. He only allowed three hits in seven innings. He struck out six while allowing two bases on balls and one earned run.
The Cuban team has a day off tomorrow. It will play the Netherlands on Friday and the USA on Saturday.
The gold medal game will be played on Sunday.
