Cuba vs. Korea

8:04 a.m. EST:

Cuba wins 7-2 against Korea on their fourth game of the Baseball World Cup. They are undefeated.

Cuba jumped to an early lead on the first inning. After base on balls to Olivera, Mayeta hit a double to score Cuba’s first run. The bases were loaded later in the inning and the second run walked home on a base on balls.

On the bottom of the fifth, Cuba scored two more runs. Olivera started with a hit, and then went to second on a wild pitch. Bases on balls to Gourriel and Mayeta followed to load all the bases. Cepeda had a timely hit which produced two RBI’s.

Cepeda and and Urgelles had consecutive doubles on the eighth and one more run scored. Urgelles went to third on an error by Korea and also scored later on. The hits and runs kept on coming for Cuba and the score quickly went to 7-2.

Chapman pitched seven complete innings and struck out nine Korean batters. He did an excellent job, only allowing one earned run. Yuniesky Maya had two innings of relief pitching with five strike outs. Cuba had nine hits and Korea seven. Each team committed one error.

Again, Stadeo TV had a superb Internet feed of the live game with very minor glitches.

Cuba plays Venezuela tommorrow at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Yadel Marti is scheduled to start for Cuba.
