Wickham: Obama’s stance on Cuba embargo is far from enlightened

I voted for Obama on the 17th of October via absentee ballot. The Illinois senator offers hope to a nation that has gone downhill since the assassinations of JFK and MLK and the two imperialist wars in Vietnam and Iraq.

I would have to agree 100% with Dewayne Wickham when he writes today that both major presidential candidates have shamelessly courted the votes of the ultra right wingers in South Florida. Continuing to support the Cuba embargo is probably the dumbest thing that Obama will ever do. Bill Clinton proved in 1992 that you can win the White House without carrying Florida.

If Obama is elected tomorrow and continues to support the embargo he would be defying the 185-3 vote which condemned the Cuba embargo last Wednesday at the United Nations. He would be just another typical politician.
