Alfredo Despaigne is Cuba's new Home Run leader


Alfredo Despaigne, who plays for the Granma baseball team in eastern Cuba, is the undisputed leader in Home Runs in Cubas's 48th National Baseball Series. He has 16 Bambinazos.

He is followed closely by Joan C. Pedroso, Yosvani Peraza and Yoenni Cespedes, who all have 15.

All four players are part of the 43-man roster to the 2009 World Baseball Classic which will start on March 5, in Tokyo, Japan.

On or around February 20th, Cuba will announce its final 28-man roster of Team Cuba.
