Japan has started training its national team for the 2009 World Baseball Classic, reports The New York Times. Japan beat Cuba 10-6 in the final game of the inaugural WBC in 2006.

Cuba showed the world that its players are just as good as the Major Leaguers in the United States.

I predict that Cuba will win this year's event, but all I have to say is "May the best team win." Japan, with its pitching ace Daisuke Matsuzaka and the incomparable Ichiro, was the best team in 2006.

GO TEAM CUBA!
