Cuba had an easy game against South Africa. Six home runs, two by Frederich Cepeda and one each by Hector Olivera, Yulieski Gourriel, Alfredo Despaigne and Yoennis Cespedes. It established a new record for the World Baseball Classic.
Vera went six complete innings and only allowed two hits and no runs. He struck out six and gave up two bases on balls.
