Lula to ask Obama for improved relations between the United States and Cuba

Brazilian Presient Luis Inacio Lula da Silva will visit Washington D.C today in an official visit. The Washington Post reports that "Lula is expected to bring his own message for change when he meets with President Obama on Saturday at the White House: that the United States work to ease its often hostile relations with Latin America."

Washington's policy toward Cuba is also of particular importance in the region, where the U.S. embargo is widely seen as an anachronistic failure.
