Report to Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power

March 27, 2009

Cuba's daily Juventud Rebelde reported today that a report will be presented to the National Assembly of People's Power, the top legislative body in the country. The study deals with the material shortages in the island and the lack of response by the authorities to reported problems.

The report emphasizes that some of the factors that delay the answers to citizen's complaints are the lack of sensibility and the non-investigations of the problems that are presented to the relevant authorities. The answers that are given to the citizens lack any fundamentals, are too technical, show little professionalism and take a long time.

JG: This shows very clearly that problems inside the island are not swept under the rug. Someone must be held accountable for the lack of response to citizens complaints.
