Alfredo Despaigne is Crowned Home Run King of Cuba's 48th National Baseball Series


Alfredo Despaigne, a 2009 World Baseball Classic all-star team member, finished the 48th season of Cuban Baseball with 32 vuelacercas. He plays for the Granma team in the Eastern Division of Cuba's National Baseball Series.

The regular 90 games series has ended and the playoffs start today. In the East, the teams which will play in the best of seven quarterfinals games will be Santiago de Cuba, Villa Clara, Holguin and Ciego de Avila. In the West, the four team which will compete to advance to the semis are La Habana, Isla de la Juventud, Pinar del Rio and Sancti Spiritus.

The avispas of Santiago de Cuba are the current Baseball Champions.
