Operation Miracle was an idea conceived by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the idea was born on July 2004.
In less than five years, one million and six hundred thousand persons from 33 different countries have received opthalmologic services, free of charge, in 55 centers which are located in 15 countries.
The free services, including cataracts operations, have been been provided by the governments of Cuba and Venezuela.
