Alexei Bell, one of the star players of the Avispas of Santiago de Cuba, hit two Grand Slams in the first inning of the opening day of Cuba's 49th National Baseball Series, reports BaseballdeCuba.com. Hitting two Grand Slams in the same inning had never been done before in the first 48 years of Cuban Revolutiorary Baseball.
Alexei is the only Cuban baseball player ever to join the prestigious 100/30 Club; 100 or more RBI's and at least 30 home runs in one baseball season. He achieved that milestone during Cuba's 47th National Baseball Series. Last year, on the opeing day of Cuba's 48th National Baseball Series, Alexei was hit by a pitch. The injury was very serious and he had a subpar year. It looks now like he has recovered from his injury and he may be up to having another good year. I wish him the best.

I just stumbled across your site. I've been reading about Cuban prospects over the years, and it's good to see some other people reading about the same thing. Bell is an interesting player b/c it's hard to tell how he'd fare in America. I'm pretty certain he'd be a 30 HR guy but you could argue he would struggle.
We publish some stuff about Cuban players on our site too...
