Carol Thatcher: U.S. policy toward Cuba has failed

Carol Thatcher

Carol Thatcher, the daughter of the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher declared recently the following: "referring to the US policy on Cuba, [she] said Washington has achieved the opposite of its intention. She said Cuba is a monument to 51 years of failed American foreign policy. She said that the unrelenting trade embargo has made resistance a matter of national pride."

Carol is part of a contingent of British citizens who is touring the island by bike.

You do not to be a rocket scientist to realize the failure of U.S. foreign policy towards Cuba: the U.S. trade embargo was put in place to overthrow the Cuban government and to bring suffering and hunger to the Cuban people. The opposite has been achieved: yearly condemnations at the United Nations, the last one being 187-3.

There were those who said -- including myself -- that Barack Obama was an intelligent person. The fact that he has chosen to continue the favorite policy of the Miami right-wingers shows us that HE IS NOT.
