Both born in Cuba before the revolution, they were two of the most influential backers of the 50-year-old embargo. A core of hardliners remain, led by Sen. Bob Menendez and Albio Sires, both New Jersey Democrats, and Florida Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R), Mario Diaz-Balart (R) -- Lincoln's brother -- Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D) and Kendrick Meek (D).
