Chris Archer proved to be unstoppable. By the time that the sixth inning was over he had struck out ten Cuban batters, and Cuba was not able to recover; all they could could come up was two hits in the six innings. Archer was recently named the Chicago Cubs 2010 Minor League pitcher of the year.
Vladimir Garcia was the losing pitcher for the criollos.
The U.S. remains undefeated. Cuba has two losses.
Cuba plays in a semi-final game against Venezuela at 2:00 p.m. today. The Dominican Republic will play against the U.S. at 7:30 p.m. The winners of those two games will play for the gold medal on Wednesday.
