Yesterday, Cuban website Cubadebate reported the following: "This Wednesday, Cubadebate received a notification from the You Tube technical center that they had closed our account in that social network due to copyright infringement."
The communique of the Cuban government went on to express how they, Cubabadete, felt.
It is very unfortunate that the Cuban government does not really understand how a capitalist enterprise and/or society really operates. In the United States everything, including the government, is a business. If you do something that makes it more difficult for a capitalist enterprise to make money, they will stop you, legally or illegally. That is exactly what Google did.
To begin with, Cuba should never had had an account with Google in You Tube. Google is a capitalist entity, and Cuba is a Socialist country. Google operates to make money and Cuba operates to try to make Cuban society better. The two have competing interests that make friendship and cooperation very difficult if not impossible.
Cuba should never forget that because of the inherent hatred by U.S. capitalism toward Cuban socialism, this marriage of Cuba and You Tube was bound to fail at anytime.
Cuba should develop their own social networks rather than rely on the private social networks of its arch enemy.
