Capitalism is returning to Cuba! LETS FLY TO CUBA!
Airlines want permission to fly to Cuba from Florida
Central Florida News 13
Airports across Florida have begun trying to get federal permission for direct flights to Cuba.
New federal rules implemented in January relaxed travel restrictions to the Communist country.
Now, airports in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Key West want permission to fly to the island nation, and Orlando International Airport is also considering asking for permission.
Airport officials said they want to be ready for a surge in traffic to Cuba.
The new rules allow more airports to apply to have direct flights to Cuba. Before, only airports in New York, Miami and Los Angeles had permission.
The rules also ease travel limits on religious groups and universities, and make it easier for cultural groups and other travelers to get special licenses to visit the country.
