Civil war erupts at Tahrir Square

Mubarak is busing in his supporters to Tahrir Square and they are attacking the protesters who are demanding the ouster of the Egyptian dictator. Gunshots can be heard.

2:43 p.m. Abdel Halim Qandil, from the opposition Kefaya party, echoed the claims that it is Mubarak's security services who are reponsible for the unrest. He said:

"There are no Mubarak protesters. They are thugs, security personnel, dressed as civilians. What is happening in Tahrir Square now is a crime perpetrated by the Mubarak regime. It is another crime perpetrated by him...he must be held accountable.....we cannot stop until we see this murderous regime step down." (The Guardian, link)
