Cuban baseball player turned down eight million dollars in 1992 to defect and play in the U.S.

Lázaro Vargas was a baseball player with Cuba's national baseball team in 1992. After the end of the Barcelona Olympics, he was offered eight million dollars to defect and go play in the United States. In effect, he told them, take a hike! He turned them down.

I am glad to see that there are people that have dignity. The Americans think that anyone can be bought.
