How Miami terrorists tried to assassinate Gilberto Abascal

The trial against Luis Posada Carriles continues in El Paso, Texas. A prominent prosecution witness, Gilberto Abascal, an FBI informant, has testified against the Miami terrorist, who is being charged with being a liar and not a terrorist.

In a court document filed by the U.S. government, details are told about how the Miami terrorists tried to assassinate and/or kill Gilberto Abascal.

“When Mr. Abascal signed an agreement with the FBI in August 2005 to act as an informant, FBI agents were actively investigating claims – including reports by Mr. Abascal – that Santiago Alvarez and Osvaldo Mitat were in possession of unregistered illegal firearms, including military style weapons. As a result of his involvement as a witness and informant in the case involving Alvarez and Mitat, Mr. Abascal's life was placed in danger. In November 2005, the FBI placed Mr. Abascal into protective housing due to this danger. In August 2006, Mr. Abascal was fired upon by an unknown assailant as he exited a commercial establishment in his vehicle. In January 2007, a large pipe bomb was placed in Mr. Abascal's vehicle.”
