Cuba Journal strongly supports H.R. 1317

Don't we all wish and want that all proposed new laws were this small, precise and to the point?

Representative Betty McCollum, of the Fourth District of Minnesota, has introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives H.R. 1317, 'The Stop Wasting Taxpayer Money on Cuba Broadcasting Act.'

It will effectively put an end to the 'Ministry of Welfare Checks' for the Miami gusanos and the anti-Cuba extremists who reside in South Florida and New Jersey.

Radio and TV Marti are an insult to the memory of Cuba's independence leader, José Martí. It is time to shut them down and save our taxpayer money for more worthy endeavors like education and social programs.

To discontinue Radio Marti and Television Marti broadcasts to Cuba.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This act may be cited as the `Stop Wasting Taxpayer Money on Cuba Broadcasting Act'.

SEC. 2. DISCONTINUATION OF RADIO MARTI AND TELEVISION MARTI BROADCASTS TO CUBA.

(a) Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act- The Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act (22 U.S.C. 1465 et seq.) is repealed.

(b) Television Broadcasting to Cuba Act- The Television Broadcasting to Cuba Act (22 U.S.C. 1465aa et seq.) is repealed.
