HAVANA (AP) — Cuban dissidents say one of their own has died two days after a run-in with authorities, and they are accusing police of provoking his death.
Government opponent Guillermo Farinas tells The Associated Press that Juan Wilfredo Soto died early Sunday in the central city of Santa Clara.
Farinas said Soto was detained and beaten by police Thursday during a protest where he was yelling anti-government slogans.
He said Soto was hospitalized and doctors told him he died of pancreatitis, which has a number of possible causes.
Farinas acknowledged that Soto had a number of pre-existing health issues including diabetes, circulatory and heart problems, and gout.
He said he had not seen a death certificate yet.
JG: Guillermo Farinas is another one of the US-paid mercenaries who lives like a millionaire inside Cuba with the money that Obama and Hillary pay him. I hope he dies soon too! No one pays any attention to these scum inside the island, only the imperialist news media.
