Havana, Aug 3 - Ignorance contributes to perpetuate the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba, Benjamin Ramos, member of the Venceremos solidarity brigade, told Prensa Latina.
In statements formulated at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Ramos stated that many Americans support the blockade because they ignore the truth about the Caribbean nation.
For that reason, this is not only an economic, financial and trade, but also political and media blockade, the latter silences this country's achievements and maximize falseness on a nonexistent social repression.
"We, the members of the Venceremos Brigade, condemn that White House policy, imposed for almost 50 years and foster a movement for informing of the reality," stated Ramos, who traveled for fourth time to Cuba.
Referring to the Cuban-U.S. relations, he said they are not the best, because Washington has created a war in multiple ways against the Havana government and its social project.
We also reaffirmed our willingness to continue the struggle for the prompt release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons since 1998.
Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez are currently serving harsh sentences for alerting on violent plans against Cuba planned from U.S. territory.
The members of the U.S. Venceremos solidarity brigade concluded the visit to Cuba, where they worked voluntarily in agriculture, received first-hand information about the situation in Cuba today.
