Capitalists make their fortunes by
exploiting the working class. Theft is a synonym for capitalism. Karl
Marx's Theory of Surplus Value and Das Kapital may be hard to
understand for unintelligent and uneducated people, but it is a
reality that can be readily seen by using just plain common sense.
When Raul Castro's government announced
that it would allow capitalist entities inside the island to build
golf course playgrounds for the super-rich he was sowing the seeds
for the destruction of Cuban native socialism and betraying the ideas
for which the Cuban revolution was fought. Does he want to become
another Mikhail Gorbachev?
Gambling is a capitalist vice. Want to
see decadence and criminality? Go to Las Vegas, Nevada and Atlantic
City, New Jersey in the United States. Is that going to be Raul's
next “reform”?
Do not bring a Trojan Horse inside my
beloved island. Please abandon that silly idea, President Raul
Castro.
Does Haiti have golf-courses? I don't
know. It is better to be poor than to lose all self-respect.

If Cubans won't produce more for local consumption, the money to supply the island's needs have to come from somewhere, don't they? I realize that isn't an either/or question, I just think that revenues need to be realized from somewhere while the other issues are also being straightened out.
Is it just golf courses for the Cuban elite that you oppose, or is the whole tourism sector a bad thing in your mind?
Your assumptions are 100% incorrect.
Since the overthrow of US-supported puppet, General Fulgencio Batista, Cubans and its government are doing very well. They make mistakes, but they govern their country themselves. They are no longer a semi-colony of Yankee imperialism.
Cuba does not need to import "mistakes" from the U.S.
Building golf-courses sends the wrong signal to the imperialists. There are no millionaires in Cuba. Therefore, the nation does not need golf courses.
I'm not sure what assumptions you think I'm making. I'm just trying to figure out what your position is.
I'm not American, I'm Canadian. I've been to Cuba several times. I love the Island and it's people. I think there are many lessons to be learned in how they have done things there. My favourite thing about it is its decided lack of American taint.
I'm just genuinely wondering if it's golf courses specifically that you object to, or if it's part of a broader beef on your part. Why does golf have to be for millionaires anyway? I don't know what it's like in Florida, but here in Manitoba we have plenty of publicly owned golf courses that everyone has access to.
Cuba has serious economic problems that it needs to address.
The cash for capitalist wealthy people (e.i. golf-courses) can be used for really important and needed projects.
Working class people do not golf. It is a silly sport for the idle rich.
