April 16: 52nd Anniversary of Fidel Castro Declaring the Socialist Character of the Cuban Revolution

On a day like today, Fidel Castro, Cuba's Commander in Chief, declared the Socialist character of the Cuban Revolution.

Excerpt of his speech on April 16, 1961, day of the burial of those Cubans who were killed by a mercenary attack against Cuba's airports by the vendepatrias who were hired by the CIA to "liberate" Cuba. In 66 hours they would be defeated and captured.

"Por esta Revolucion de los humildes, por los humildes, y para los humildes, estamos dispuestos a dar la vida."

"For this Revolution of the humble, by the humble, and for the humble, we are prepared to give our lives."
