Capitalism, the mother of all scams

Less than 1% of the worlds population owns 40% of the resources. Do they do 40% of the work? No. And when the banks get themselves in trouble, they are bailed out by tax-payers. Since taxes are socialist by definition (meant to be used for public health and education), then to say that these extreme right-wingers are hypocritical is an understatement. Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the rest of us. And if the private enterprise system is so much more successful than socialism, then why don't the right-wing politicians get paid by private institutions?

Conspiracy theories are all good and well. But I fear that they can distract us from the real conspiracy. It is obvious to say that the advertising industry is propaganda, every ad not just selling a product but the entire capitalist system itself. Less obvious is the subtext that is everywhere else in the media, the choice of 'human interest' stories in the news as a substitute for an important story (lies of omission), some character looking for a "job" in a sit-com... And in a double-headed strategy, it has also taken over education which should be free from vested-interests, so that people will no longer make informed critical judgements. Add patriotism to the mix and any criticism of the gov't becomes anti-patriotic. Obama gives in to the right by giving the banks trillions and how does the American people express it's disgust? It gives more power to the Republicans who caused the problem in the first place! (I'm sorry Republicans but your lies will no longer be tolerated. Nixon, Reagan, George "W", what an insult to those of us who actually take care to get our philosophies right). This is called projected duality, or in the gambling world, hedging ones bets.

So, getting back to conspiracy theories, they too have become just another "alternative market", a gimmicky form of entertainment, and play right into the hands of the real conspirators. Their heart might be in the right place, but their head isn't.

JG: Very well said. The only thing I would add is that the two branches of The Capitalist Party, USA, (a.k.a. Democrats and Republicans) are the gasoline that keeps capitalist scams running.
