Orion splashed down in the Pacific Ocean 630 miles southwest of San Diego at 8:29 a.m. local time, about four and a half hours after it was launched into orbit from Florida. NASA said the spacecraft appeared to function well throughout the brief flight and that the capsule landed just a mile off target. (NYT)
