When is the Cuban government going to get rid of the CUC?

Three CUC

The Cuban government, forces the tourists who go to Cuba to buy something that is not worth one dollar. It is a huge fraud. It is called the Convertible Unit of Currency, or CUC for short.

Link to Wikipedia's page for the CUC.

If I were to travel to take a short vacation in the Dominican Republic, Cuba's closest neighboring island, I would get DOP/USD = 45.90626, according to the website http://themoneyconverter.com/USD/DOP.aspx.

I would like to have someone from the Cuban government explain to me why do they continuing promoting this fraud.

Let the Cuban National Peso float in the free market. Get rid of the CUC.
