Aroldis Chapman, defector or dollar chaser?

There is a lot of controversy regarding Aroldis Chapman. Is he a defector or a dollar chaser? I will neither defend him nor pillory him for having left my native Cuba.

In the island, the government has always had the attitude that anyone who is a baseball player and leaves the island is a traitor. I do not see it that way. We all have to make personal decisions. Sometimes people make the right decision or they make what others judge to be the wrong decision.

I personally feel that Aroldis is not the best Cuban baseball player to "defect" to the United States. Of course, the U.S. capitalists, greedy bastards that they are, are extremely happy that they were able to "steal" one of the members of Cuba's National Selection team. The fact of the matter is that the Yankees did not put a pistol to Aroldis's temple. The siren song of the Almighty Dollar is what probably forced him to make his decision.

I personally do not feel that Aroldis Chapman is as good as Livan Hernandez, who on my list is NUMERO UNO. Time will tell. I also feel that the Cincinnati Reds vastly overpaid Aroldis.

Lets wait and see what he does for Cincinnati.
