Cuba has begun mass testing for coronavirus as it appeared to have contained infections, amid a partial shutdown that has exacerbated a shortage of basic goods.

New cases have fallen to fewer than 20 per day from a peak of around 50 in April.

Since the first Covid-19 illness was reported two months ago, there have been 1,804 confirmed cases, of which 70.7% have recovered and 78 people have died.

Cuba has closed its borders and the tourism industry, schools and public transportation. Masks are mandatory and eating at restaurants, bars and social gatherings prohibited. Cubans have been urged to stay at home and practice social distancing.

Los soldados del Ejército Rojo alzaron hace ya 75 años la bandera de la Victoria sobre el edificio del Reichstag (Parlamento de Alemania), lo cual marcó la victoria definitiva sobre el fascismo impulsado por Alemania.

Para entrar en Berlín, las tropas de la urss rodearon y eliminaron a una poderosa fuerza castrense desde el 25 de abril hasta el 2 de mayo. Más de 78 000 valerosas vidas de soldados y oficiales soviéticos fueron
sacrificadas en diversas batallas por Europa oriental, dejando una estela de proezas.

Esa bandera roja se convirtió en el símbolo de la victoria soviética sobre el nazismo y hoy se atesora en un museo de Moscú. Para el 8 de mayo de 1945 se firmaron las actas de capitulación alemanas.

Este hecho se recuerda como una celebración en Rusia, y una enseñanza para las nuevas generaciones por los valores de lealtad y valentía frente a un poder imperial, que quería convertir al mundo en su esclavo.

Hoy recordar esa victoria tiene trascendental importancia, en un mundo amenazado por las políticas del imperialismo. También es imprescindible no olvidar, ante quienes intentan reescribir la historia, con el objetivo de negar el papel decisivo de la urss en la derrota del nazi-fascismo.
