Vivo en la memoria histórica del pueblo cubano, en Camilo se reconoce al intrépido combatiente y a uno de los expedicionarios del yate Granma. Su valor hizo que el pueblo espontáneamente le otorgara el título de Héroe de Yaguajay, una de las batallas que sellaron el triunfo del Ejército Rebelde dirigido por Fidel. (Granma)
